I'm a big kid now!

Yesterday we converted Emily's crib into a toddler bed. We've been wanting to do this for awhile now, but just haven't. I am glad we (Rich) took the initiative to do it!
Before bedtime, though, Emily had a chance to play in her new bed. She LOVES it! I don't know why we didn't do it sooner. Such a big kid! She crawls up there on her own and sits and plays with her friends.
Such a big smile!

Daddy asked Emily to lay down and try it out. She liked it!
Rich was able to read her a book in her room before bedtime. Usually, we read in the living room before bedtime. It was nice to start this new tradition!
After reading a book, it was time for bed. We closed the door and we heard her crying as usual. (She usually cries for a minute or two, because she hates having to stop playing. That kid would play all night if we let her....or watch movies. :) )
Soon after, we heard the crying at the door.....oh crap! is what I thought! She opens doors now, so I was sure she would escape. She just kinda hung out there for a bit, cried and then was silent. When we went to bed, we checked on her and she was in her bed with her friends. It will take a bit of getting used to, but I think for the first night, she did awesome!!
Today, she has been calling us into her room to come and sit on the floor by her bed while she sits in her bed and plays with her toys. She really enjoys her big kid life!
I was filling out her baby book earlier and thought I would update you on a few things that she has been up to lately.
Emily knows all her colors and will tell you them or point to them, whichever you ask for.
The only color she has a bit of trouble with, is white....if you ask her what color a piece of paper is, or anything white, she says "milk"! I should correct her, but it is so darn cute! We have been working on it recently, and I think she may have it down now.....
She knows all her shapes and can point to them or say them like her colors.
She points to her heart in her chest and says bum bump bum bump.....cute!
If you ask her if she's hungry and what she wants to eat she always say brocy. (Broccoli) She loves broccoli. It's probably her favorite!
LOVES to read books. She is so funny when she picks up a book and proceeds to read it to you....ramble ramble ramble.......
She really loves Imagination Movers and Mickey Mouse Playhouse. I think she specifically likes the music. (As a matter of fact, I love Imagination Movers and they are on a concert tour and if they come here, we will just have to go!)
Mary Poppins (poppins) is her favorite movie. That has defiantly passed 101 dalmatians (puppies) She also really likes UP (up) and Monsters Inc (monstas).
When Rich or I go to the bathroom and flush the toilet, we both get a loud clap and either a yay Daddy or a yay Mommy! Potty!!!
She changes her baby's diapers and feeds them bottles. She wraps them in blankets and rocks them.
Still has a HUGE fascination with shoes!
When commercials for food come on the TV, she says mmmmmmm.
She is the teacher's helper everyday at daycare and sits in a chair next to the teacher. The other kids sit on the floor. Her teacher says that Emily could easily lead/teach the class. She helps Mrs. Kristy with the other kids.
She calls herself Emi, (Ahmi) and points to herself.
She is just amazing! I can't believe that her 2nd birthday is fast approaching! She will be two in less than 4 months....where has the time gone?
I have started thinking about her birthday and plans...details to come soon!
We keep asking her what kind of birthday she wants this year. We will have to see what she picks!
Stay tuned!
