Emily's Surgery Day to put PE tubes in her ears

Emily's surgery started out well. We arrived at the center at 6:00am and they got us settled in our room. We got her dressed in her surgical robe. We were visited by many nurses and doctors. Her surgery was scheduled for 7:30, but they got her in around 8:00. Within a few minutes the Dr returned to tell us that it went well. Emily arrived a few minutes later. All the Drs and nurses told us that Emily was the best baby they had ever seen in the center before. She was very well behaved, happy and didn't fuss at all! After giving her some liquids, we were ready to leave, but Emily's hands and feet were purple, which concerned us a bit. The nurse also seemed concerned, so we went back to her room and they administered some oxygen to her. They said she was having a hard time coming out of her anesthesia. After a few minutes of oxygen and a slightly panicked mom, we were finally ready to leave.
Here is Emily and I waiting

Emily laying in her bed.

She looks like she is sad, but she is actually laughing.

Leave it to mom and dad to find a hair net and make Emily look ridiculous...well, I actually think she looks cute!

Emily and Daddy waiting. It is almost time! The dolphin she is holding is a present from the surgery center. She hasn't put it down since that moment!

Emily seemed to do really well all day until the middle of the night when her fever skyrocketed. She was running steady temp of 103.8 or so. We couldn't get it to go down. She also threw up on me when I picked her up. We called the Dr on call and he told us to bring her in the ER. We got there around 4:00am. When they were taking her temp rectally, we noticed a rash on her back as well. She was very lethargic and wasn't moving. I really lost it, when they had to draw blood from her arm. She was screaming and crying and looking at us to help her.....it was the worst experience. I started crying too. There is nothing worse than seeing your child in pain! They gave her some Tylenol and within an hour it was down to 101.8. Her white blood cell count came back fine. Based on her tests and her symptoms, they think she has something viral and we will just have to wait it out. It probably was not a result of the surgery. What a scare!! Her temp has continued to be a constant battle. Things are looking up, though. We are taking it easy this weekend.
