Calica (Cancun) The Mayan Ruins

(in reverse order)
Our final picture in Mexico! What a beautiful view.
Or maybe, this is more of a beautiful view! Just breathtaking! (do you happen to notice the clouds rolling in on the horizon? ya, it rained that day too after we left the ruins and while we were shopping) (that dang hurricane!!!!!!!!)
There was a area that you could swim at the ruins. We didn't get in, but it was an amazing sight.

The ruins. This was actually the location of the first Catholic Church in Mexico. This is where religion started for these people after the Mayans were invaded. A priest came and converted them all to Christianity. It was really neat to hear the history of this place.

This is the very beach that the Spaniards arrived on and invaded the Mayans. Beautiful now, but not so beautiful then, I suppose.

Tulum Mayan Ruins

That concludes our pics from our trip. I hope you enjoyed the sneak peek at our trip as much as we enjoyed our vacation!!! It was great to go away for a bit, but it was fantastic to get home and see Emily!! Next year, we are planning a cruise to Alaska with my family, if all goes as planned. Emily will be coming with us then. I don't think we could leave her again. She had a blast. I might post a few pics of that later. Our first cruise was a success! Goodbye Mexico.....Hello Alaska!!
