Kimberly feeding Emily.
Kimberly and Mark's dog Bacon. He is a whipper breed. He seemed to get along with Emily quite well, but wasn't so sure he wanted to share his attention!
While Emily was playing with Bacon and Kimberly, we went to the movies for the first time! Yes, I am aware of how crazy this sounds, but we never went to the movies while we were dating, engaged or married, until now! How, you might be asking, did this go on this long? We're not really sure! We've gone to the drive in and we've rented umpteen amounts of movies, but never to the actual theatre. But, I am proud to announce, our first movie..drum roll please....The Dark Knight. It was amazing! Such good acting, but I was saddened thinking about Heath Ledger's death! So untimely! Anyhoo, now that we have broken the curse, we can take in a few more flicks! (there's a first time for everything...ours just came a bit late) :)
After picking Emily up, we headed north to Mike and Melissa's engagement party. Some of you may recognize him from our wedding. He was Rich's best man. We had a good time despite the rain!! They had smoked like 50 lbs of meat, all kinds, potato salad, corn, hot peppers with cheese, beans, etc. It was nice to be able to kick back a little! We got to watch some fireworks afterwards. Emily was pretty good with them. She didn't seem afraid!
Big Mike and Emily.
Too cute! I had to post these, because I think it's hysterical how big and tough Mike appears to be and how gentle and sweet he really is. Emily looks so tiny compared to him! He was really great with her, until she started crying...she was getting really tired towards the end! We knew it was time to go!
Well, that's about the extent of our weekend besides church on Sunday. We were pretty much just lazy yesterday while it rained again.
Rich, since I know you will probably read this at work today, I wanted to tell you how blessed I am to have you in my life. It has been a great first year. Like I said earlier, there's a first time for everything, and I am glad I got to share my first year as a wife and a mother with you. I feel spoiled and often brag about how wonderful you are. I never could have imagined that I would find someone who made me feel like I was the only person in this world. You are a perfect, wonderful husband and an even better father. I couldn't have asked for anything more. I wouldn't have known life could be so good! Thanks for a great first year and I look forward to many, many more with you....now wipe your tears son, and get back to work!!! LOL I love ya!
P.S. thank you to those of you who sent best wishes!
